Veterinarian charged with possession of child porn and having sex with dogs in his care
Miami, Florida - Startling accusations have emerged against a veterinarian who allegedly sent thousands of photos of child pornography and films of himself having sex with dogs.
Prentiss Madden, a veterinarian and medical director of an animal hospital in South Florida, is facing charges in a Miami court and could spend years in federal prison if convicted.
The 40-year-old vet was arrested on Tuesday after police raided his home at the end of February, according to the Miami Herald.
They found multiple phones and a computer that had sent over 1,600 files of suspected child pornography. They also found multiple social media chats which detailed the abuse of animals and a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy from Orlando.
Authorities were led to the Alabama native by the file-sharing service Dropbox for large uploads of thousands of photos of children that were flagged from his address.
The court complaint also alleges that Madden had videos and photos having sex with animals that were taken at his home and the animal hospital where he worked, leading to questions over whether he abused pets under his care.
Caring Hands Animal Hospital have distanced themselves from Madden, who has been fired from their staff.
He is currently being held in jail as he awaits a decision from Miami courts over his release and when a trial will officially begin.
Because of a new federal law preventing animal cruelty and the torture of animals on video for sexual gratification, the vet could face up to seven years behind bars.
If convicted for his charges of child pornography, Madden could receive 37 more years in prison.
