TV's Allison Mack sentenced for role in sex-trafficking cult
Brooklyn, New York - Smallville star Allison Mack has received her sentence for her role in the NXIVM cult crimes.
On Wednesday, the actor was sentenced to three years in federal prison.
Allison, who is best known for her role as Chloe Sullivan on the CW series, originally faced up to 40 years of jail time.
In 2019, the disgraced star pleaded guilty to charges of racketeering after she was arrested a year earlier on charges of sex trafficking and forced labor.
The Blink actor was accused of recruiting and branding women, alongside the group's founder Keith Raniere.
On Saturday, the star released a statement ahead of her sentencing where she expressed her regret for her role in the controversial organization.
"I am sorry to those of you that I brought into NXIVM. I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man. I am sorry that I encouraged you to use your resources to participate in something that was ultimately so ugly," Allison wrote.
Allison was married to Battlestar Galactica actor Nicki Clyne, whom she divorced in 2020.
Her former costar Kristin Kreuk was also alleged to have been involved in the heinous acts, but the star denied the allegations.
During Alison's arraignment proceedings in 2018, it was revealed that she blackmailed women into engaging in sexual activity with Raniere against their wishes.
The scandal was the basis of the Lifetime film Escaping the NXIVM Cult: A Mother's Fight to Save Her Daughter.
As for Raniere, the felon was sentenced to 120 years in prison in October 2020.
