Pam & Tommy: Lily James' Pamela is a force to be reckoned with
The sixth episode of the Hulu's Pam & Tommy pushes the series into a more serious tone while depicting the grueling lawsuit over the leaked sex tape.
Pamela in Wonderland was all about the show's main character and honestly, there can be no complaints about this.
Fans were blessed with more screen time from the ridiculously talented Lily James, who takes on the misunderstood '90s "It Girl."
This time, Pam is in the hot seat as the fallout from the rash decision made by Tommy Lee, played by Sebastian Stan, to sue Penthouse continues.
The episode focuses on the Baywatch star undergoing a very uncomfortable deposition as part of the lawsuit filed against the adult magazine. Pamela is subjected to some mortifying questions and is also embarrassingly forced to identify herself in the sex tape.
Yet thanks to Lily's gripping portrayal of the blonde bombshell, the world can now see that Pamela was always truly a force to be reckoned with.
Pamela defends her sexuality amid a grueling deposition
The 32-minute episode was another treat from start to finish as the English star continues to perfectly embody Pamela's persona. It also gave an insight into the model's early start in the entertainment industry.
From getting a modeling gig for the Canadian-based brewery, Labatt, to posing for Playboy, Pamela recounts her early days while also trying to explain her reasons for participating in the stolen video.
By now, it should be obvious that the infamous sex tape was never meant to see the light of day. Yet Bob Guccione's defense counsel try to paint a different story.
"Do you recall how old you were the first time you publicly exposed your genitals?" his lawyer outright asks a baffled Pamela in one scene.
It's only one of the many harsh questions that she is forced to answer – alone, in a room full of strangers.
After a temporary breakdown and comfort from a stranger, Pamela decides enough is enough and swiftly shuts down the deposition.
While Pam & Tommy may have been promoted as one of the "greatest love stories" ever told, the miniseries has proven to be so much more than romance. At times, it has been an honest and difficult depiction of double standards in sexuality.
This is by no meands unique to Pamela's story. Take for instance Kim Kardashian, whose 2007 sex tape is still mentioned today, despite the fact that she is a mega-successful business mogul with several companies under her belt. Meanwhile, her ex Ray J, the other participant in the video, is rarely ever attached to the scandal.
Pam & Tommy goes a long way to correcting a narrative that's still familiar today.
New episodes of Pam & Tommy air on Wednesdays only on Hulu.
