Miley Cyrus shocks fans with series of cigarette pics
Los Angeles, California - When Miley Cyrus posts something on Instagram, she can be sure to receive worldwide attention. This fact makes it all the more perplexing that she recently shared a series of cigarette pictures.
The 28-year-old on Tuesday uploaded ten pictures to Instagram, showing her from different periods and years of her life. In each image she is shown with a cigarette in her mouth.
Some snaps showed her smoking at the beach, in a car, or in front of a building, as the Prisoner singer wrote "SMOKE TODAY DOWN TO THE FILTER!" in the caption.
What Miley Cyrus trying to encourage her follows to start smoking, though? What was the story behind such a bizarre Insta drop, and should we be worried?
Does Miley Cyrus want us to smoke?
No, while Miley has caused a scandal or two over the years, this was not an attempt to encourage smoking. Instead, there's a deeper meaning behind the snaps.
Fans had to look at the entire post to discover it, though: Underneath her short statement, there were several hashtags that revealed her true attitude toward cigarettes.
In the hashtags, Miley said that you should never smoke cigarettes, with one reading "#INeverQuit," followed by "#UnlessItsCigarettes."
It turns out Miley wasn't encouraging smoking at all. In fact, it was quite the opposite, as she was sharing her smoking journey with her fans in an attempt to show how hard it can be to quit nicotine.
It seems that, at least nowadays, she has succeeded in quitting cigarettes. Marijuana may be another matter, as another Instagram photo series reveals.
Cyrus' smoking message not the only thing hidden in the post
The post continued with several more revealing hashtags. In several of these, Miley Cyrus makes it clear that she no longer wants to hear fans saying that they "miss the old Miley."
As a teenager, she was seen as a role model, developing a strong fan base through the Disney series Hannah Montana. Despite attempts to shed her good girl image, there are still people who desperately want the "old Miley" back.
"#ThisIsAnImposter," Miley wrote in response, expressing her frustration that people still perceive her the way she was as a young girl.
