Bachelor in Paradise: Love, lust, and naked attraction are in the air on the first night
Sayulita, Mexico – No time was wasted on the first night in paradise, as couples start to form and the girls realize it's on them to make the first move.
After a two-year delay, the singles of the seventh sefason of Bachelor in Paradise seemed to settle into their new realities quite nicely.
It was a blast from recent Bachelorette past, with Connor Brennan, Tre Cooper, Aaron Clancy, James Bonsall, and the guy everyone loves to hate: Karl Smith.
Set to redeem himself and his hurt ego from his make out woes from Katie Thurston's season of the Bachelorette, Connor didn't bat an eye when he had an early chance to lock lips with Maurissa Gunn from season 24 of the Bachelor with Peter Weber. Victory was sweet for Connor after Maurissa dished to the camera about his skills, ensuring everyone that his kissing skills were hardly the problem.
From the second the men started gathering on the beach during arrivals, it was clear that Serena Pitt, notorious for breaking up with the latest Bachelor himself, Matt James, would be one of the stars of the show. Although this season's standout stud, Brendan Morais, had been vocal about his interest in Serena, it was Joe Amabile who ended up sealing the deal with the hottest attraction.
As it turns out, contemplating whether to leave paradise due to having flashbacks of an old flame is a real eye (and heart) catcher.
Of course, Bachelor in Paradise is nothing without throwing in some dramatic elements in the form of controversial former contestants, like the infamous Victoria Larson, or Queen Victoria, from Matt James' season of the Bachelor. But rather than carrying on with the same persona in paradise, Victoria announced that the queen was dead, and from her ashes rose "the blonde goddess" who was "manifesting being the most desired" woman there.
Although she didn't seem to hit it off with anyone on the first night, there's still some time for her to summon the hottie of her dreams before the first rose ceremony.
The singles must boo up, or go home
One contestant, Kenny Braasch, made quite the entrance by showing up fully naked, and remained in his truest form for the remainder of the day and into the night.
Despite being the oldest person there at the age of 40, Kenny's overall physique should serve him well, but it's hard to say how long the nude act will last, or if that changes things for any of the ladies.
The real spark of the first night was lit between Abigail Heringer from Matt James' season of the Bachelor and Noah Erb from Tayshia Adams' season of the Bachelorette. Given that Abigail got the first date card, it was an obvious choice for her to go out with Noah.
On their date, Abigail told Noah that she basically puts every guy into the friend zone. He clearly had no intention of hanging out there for any period of time and went in for the kiss – which Abigail very much returned.
Things started off on a weird note, per usual, for Tre when the girl he was looking forward to meeting the most, Tahzjuan Hawkins, told him she had been on a date with his uncle years prior. At first, Tre was visibly and understandably freaked out by the news, but seemed to have gotten over it quickly, given that he made his move on Tahzjuan immediately after she said she liked a man that takes control.
Each week in paradise, the contestants will have to find love, or pack their bags. Rose ceremonies will alternate between the men and the women. Those who don't form connections with anyone, or lose out on love to another contestant, will be headed home with broken hearts.
The first rose ceremony will take place next week, and it's the guys who get to hand out the first set of roses to the lady that's piqued their respective interest the most.
Bachelor in Paradise returns next Monday and Tuesday at 8 PM EST.
