Man drinks too much and changes his name – to Céline Dion!
Staffordshire, United Kingdom - The morning after drunkenly watching a Céline Dion performance on TV, a British man woke up to a shocking letter.
The super fan formerly known as Thomas Dodd (30) clearly had a bit too much to drink when he watched some of the My Heart Will Go On singer's performances over the Christmas holidays and suddenly got a great idea.
Incredibly, he got it into his head to have his name legally changed to honor his favorite pop star!
The 30-year-old now officially known as Céline Dion – a hospitality manager from Staffordshire, UK, not the Canadian singer – said in an interview with Birmingham Live that he was beside himself when he received an envelope with the words "don't bend" on it.
While Dion was amused by the change, neither his mother nor his sister were thrilled with the new name.
But he has no intention of changing it back – after all, he paid a lot of money for it!
The Brit spent a whole £89 (around $120) to make his new name official and also paid for eight additional certificates to confirm his new identity, all of which set him back another £10 (around $13.55) each!
Meanwhile, everyone is laughing about the name change!
Fortunately, the whole family can now laugh it off. Even his mother is slowly coming to terms with the idea.
"I did explain it could be worse and it could’ve been Boris Johnson [...] She's laughing about it now," Céline, aka Thomas, laughed.
There's no need to fear a case of mistaken identity: the young man assured everyone he has neither the voice of the pop icon, nor her bank balance.
