Child's skeleton falls from a home's ceiling in gruesome mystery
Tierp, Sweden - Investigators in Sweden are trying to solve the mystery of a skeleton of a small child that suddenly fell from the ceiling during renovation work.
One homeowner got the shock of her life last weekend while carrying out home renovations.
"Yesterday, when we were sawing off the ceiling in one of the living rooms, an old, handmade wooden box fell down," the woman, who lives in a town north of Stockholm, told the Swedish newspaper Expressen on Monday.
Inside, she said, lay a small child's skeleton wrapped in cloth.
The skeleton was quite real, and not a prank, as is the case when some homeowners choose to hide scary objects in their homes for the next homeowners to find during renovations.
According to police, the house was built before 1791 and the remains are believed to have been hidden there for a long time. Investigators haven't yet been able to determine the age of the remains, nor a cause of death.
The homeowner clearly had no idea that the remains were in the house, and even thought there don't seem to have been any more grizzly discoveries since, this shocking experience would be enough to put anyone off continuing the project.
