Harrison Ford rumors send excitement around Thunderbolts into overdrive
Los Angeles, California - Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in a frenzy amid rumors that the iconic Harrison Ford may be joining the superhero film franchise.
Ever since Marvel Studios announced its upcoming Thunderbolts film, fans have been speculating about who may take on the role of General Ross following the tragic passing of William Hurt earlier this year.
Hurt made his debut as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and he went on to reprise the role in four other MCU films.
In the comics, the character leads the Thunderbolts, a team-up of reformed supervillains. The MCU's iteration will include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are all set to reprise their MCU roles in the movie.
It seems that fans may be in for a real treat, as rumors are swirling that the legendary Star Wars and Indiana Jones star will be taking over the role.
The re-casting announcement for the team's leader was notably left out of Marvel's San Diego Comic-Con and D-23 Expo presentations. However, reporter Jeff Sneider announced that Ford would be taking on the role in an episode of The Hot Mic with John Rocha and Jeff Sneider.
/Film has since corroborated the rumor.
Sneider said that Ford would be playing the role in both Thunderbolts and Captain America: New World Order, which will mark the big-screen debut of Sam Wilson as Captain America.
There has been no confirmation yet from Marvel Studios or Harrison Ford.
With or without Ford, Thunderbolts is set to be released on July 26, 2024.
