Broadway star Patti LuPone is joining an exciting project in the MCU!
Burbank, California - Broadway legend Patti LuPone is trading the stage for superherodom as she's set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an unexpected new role!
The 73-year-old has been cast in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a spin-off of the MCU series WandaVision.
In typical Marvel fashion, the show's details remain under wraps, including the role that LuPone will be playing.
The series will be led by Kathryn Hahn, reprising her role from WandaVision as the scheming witch Agatha Harkness.
Also confirmed for the spin-off are White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza and Heartstopper's Joe Locke.
Neither of their roles have been revealed, but fans are speculating that Plaza may be taking on the role of villainous sorceress Morgan Le Fay, while Locke is rumored to be playing a teenage version of Wanda Maximoff's son, Billy.
The extended cast includes comedian Eric André, former Saturday Night Live star Sasheer Zamata, and WandaVision alum Emma Caulfield.
Marvel fans are hoping that the spin-off will mark the return of Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. Though the character seemingly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has all but confirmed Olsen's return.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2023.
