Teen declared dead by doctors begins to breathe again in early Easter miracle
Leek, UK - After a serious accident, this young man was pronounced dead. Days later, a miracle happened.
Lewis Roberts (18) was struck by a van in his hometown of Leek, UK, on March 13 and suffered serious head injuries, StokeonTrentLive reported.
He was immediately airlifted to the hospital, where he had to undergo emergency surgery.
Four days later, doctors broke the tragic news: Lewis had suffered a "brain steam death" and had sadly passed away.
"After saying our goodbyes to Lewis, close family bravely agreed for his organs to be donated to help the lives of seven other people," Chloe Roberts, a family member, said.
Thanks to that decision, the boy had some extra time before his life support machine was turned off. Then something incredible happened!
"Just hours before Lewis' surgery, he began to breathe again on his own. A miracle any family could wish for after being told he had zero chance of pulling through."
Lewis Roberts is getting better every day
Since then, the young Brit has made steady progress.
"He has started to react to pain tests, moving his limbs on his own, and also moving his head from side to side, blinking and also moving his mouth. Every day, this boy is getting stronger," Roberts said.
Many people have already donated large sums of money after reading about the young man's remarkable story.
Lewis' sister Jade was overwhelmed by all the help they received, "Thank you so, so much to every single one of you who has donated. Lewis will be chuffed to bits. We cannot wait for him to wake up and see it."
The cause of the accident is still under police investigation.
