The Colorado State Police told the Denver Channel that Roberto Jaramillo Herrera was pulling four children on several sleds over the "snow-packed, icy roadway". He was using his 2018 Ford F250 pickup to tow them.

The father allegedly stopped when one of the children fell off of their sled. But 11-year-old Ayleen Herrera lost control of her sled when the truck slowed down.

The girl ran into the rear of the Ford. She hit the undercarriage and slipped under the pickup truck.
