Tesla is hiring engineers for humanoid robot that could be built in Texas

Palo Alto, California - After Tesla announced plans to build a humanoid robot, which many thought was a gimmick product similar to Elon Musk's flamethrower, Tesla has moved forward with hiring engineers to bring it to life.

While some jobs are slated to start at Tesla's Palo Alto headquarters, Elektrek reported that at least one position is listed in Austin, which may hint at the company actually starting production in Texas.

Tesla's Cybertruck, Model Y, Tesla Semi, and battery cells are slated to be produced in the forthcoming Gigafactory Texas in Austin, so it makes sense that the humanoid bot could hit the production line in the Lone Star State.

The grounds for the Gigafactory can handle expansion easily. The initial land purchase by Tesla consisted of 2,100 acres, with an added 381 acre-piece, making it the company's largest factory in the world.

The most likely chain of events is that the bot would be initially developed in California for the 2022 prototype reveal, and then built for the masses in Texas.

For those overly concerned with incoming robot overlords, Musk has previously announced new products that never reached the masses, such as robotaxis and the still-delayed Cybertruck, so we'll see what happens with this one.
