DALL-E: Amazing AI tool that creates images from text is now freely available!
San Francisco, California - A new artificial intelligence (AI) tool called DALL-E has been released to the public, and it could change the way you think about art!
DALL-E allows users to input text into its system, and its AI will create a computer generated photo or piece of art based on that description.
It's truly that simple, and the results are stunning.
On Wednesday, tech company OpenAI announced that it has officially unveiled the powerful tool to the public, following a waitlisted beta released in April.
OpenAI boasts that it now has a strong community of over a million users generating two million images a day, which has helped the team discover new uses for the creative tool.
The beta testing for the system, which OpenAI describes as "powerful and complex," was aimed at fine-tuning its filters. These are now "more robust at rejecting attempts to generate sexual, violent, and other content that violates our content policy, and built new detection and response techniques to stop misuse."
The internet is already going crazy with DALL-E, sharing wild images from their imagination, recreated by the AI.
DALL-E isn't perfect, but it's so much fun to mess with
DALL-E rarely gives you exactly what you are looking for, but the fact that it can generate multiple images in less than a minute is quite impressive.
You can spend hours inputting random thoughts and ideas into the website's text box, and laughing out loud at the results.
"A painting of a cat with a sword battling a dragon on a mountain" brought up some pretty epic images, but they looked like drawings straight out of Napolean Dynamite's notebook.
We attempted to get super meta with "painting of artificial intelligence creating images out of human text," but DALL-E doesn't seem to possess a good sense of self-awareness.
There was also an attempt to use Cardi B lyrics, which didn't fall in line with the system's content policy. "Public figures" are also excluded from being used, which obviously means you can't use your favorite singer (or thrash your least favorite one),.
Luckily, "an octopus eating a taco" created a few that could put a smile on anyone's face.
DALL-E is now open to everyone, so check it out for yourself! You'll be surprised at what it comes up with.
