The Rock's daughter picks perfect stage name for wrestling career
Stamford, Connecticut – The Rock's daughter landed on her professional wrestling stage name and it has nothing to do with her famous father.
When your dad's a notable celebrity like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, it can be hard to break out of their shadow.
In an effort to hold her own, his daughter Simone Johnson is steering clear of any rock-related puns as she looks to kick off her professional wrestling career.
In other words: the old Simone can't come to the ring right now. Why? Because her official stage name is Ava Raine.
The 20-year-old broke the news on Sunday after changing her Twitter handle to @AvaRaineWWE.
Though people were quick to chime in with tired jokes about how she should call herself "The Pebble" to play homage to her dad, she clearly doesn't find the recommendation humorous.
"I beg of you guys to find a new joke. Anything," she tweeted.
Though she's trying to create a lane all her own after signing with WWE in 2020, it's impossible not to recognize the Rock's influence on the pro-wrestling world from the late 1990s to the early 2000s.
By following in her father's wrestling footsteps, WWE previously stated Ava is "on a path to become the first fourth-generation Superstar in WWE history."
