Tennessee gears up for huge Week 7 battle against Alabama
Knoxville, Tennessee - In the biggest game of the SEC this season, the Crimson Tide will shift their focus to the Tennessee Volunteers, who are projected to best Alabama for the first time in head coach Nick Saban's tenure.
The third weekend of October is close and that means that an old football rivalry is almost here.
Tennessee and Alabama will go head-to-head on Saturday for the biggest Top 10 match up since the season opener between Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Saturday's game is the first time since 1989 that both teams face each other undefeated. It also marks the Volunteers' best chance to beat the Crimson Tide since 2006, before Saban took over Alabama's program.
Since, 70-year-old legendary coach has won the last 15 meetings in a row and the Crimson Tide leads the all-time series record 58-38-7.
As Tennessee look to end their 15-year drought against Alabama, they will have the help from one of the most loyal fans in college football.
During last weekend's win against LSU, thousands of Volunteer fans traveled to Louisiana, taking over the Tigers stadium as if it was their own. The Orange and White army was so animated in the stands, it silenced the roars of the LSU Tigers home support.
Wearing the mandatory "orange out" uniform, these fanatics will sell out Neyland stadium to give Alabama a loud, but definitely not welcoming greeting.
Will Alabama's Bryce Young play in the biggest SEC game of the year?
The biggest storyline leading up to the Alabama-Tennessee showdown is whether the Crimson's Tide star quarterback Bryce Young will be cleared to play.
In Week's 5 win over Arkansas, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner left midway through the second quarter after sustaining a shoulder injury following a rough sack by Razorback's Drew Sanders.
Last weekend, Young was sidelined as a precaution in the nail-biting win over Texas A&M, but Saban has yet to confirm if one of his star men has now fully recovered.
With the best total offense in the country, led by the one of the top quarterbacks in the nations in Hendon Hooker, Tennessee has been favored by some to deal the Tide for their first lost of the season.
"Hooker's really done a nice job of executing their offense," Saban said on Hookers performance. "He's one of the leading pass efficiency guys in the country as well as has the ability to extend plays and make plays with his feet. He's a very good athlete all the way around."
The big rivalry showdown Saturday between the Volunteers and the Crimson Tide is set for 3:30 PM EDT.
