Team USA is finally back in business after rolling over Argentina in an Olympic tune-up

Las Vegas, Nevada - The United States men’s basketball team got back to winning ways as they demolished the Argentinian men’s squad in another exhibition game on Tuesday night.

Team USA have finally won a game during their summer tune-up for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games, beating down Argentina 108-80 and avoiding an unprecedented three-game losing streak in exhibitions.

Roughly 24 hours after another shocking loss on Monday night, the Americans were back on the court, this time against Argentina, a team ranked fourth in the world. There was finally a bit of rhythm and momentum to their game, enough to provide some encouragement as the team will play its first Olympic game in Tokyo in less than two weeks.

Both Kevin Durant (32) and Bradley Beal both came out in better form, shooting well early in the game on their way to finishing the game with 17 points each. Team USA also got a strong performance from Zach LaVine, who hasn’t played much organized basketball in nearly two months since his Chicago Bulls missed out on the playoffs.

"Today, we got better, but there's still a lot more we can improve on. We're moving in the right direction," Beal said in his postgame comments to ESPN.

Argentina fails to put up much of a fight

A sense of urgency was indeed a driving force for the US to get back on-track sooner, rather than later. However, the Argentinians didn't seem to be the same sort of team that won gold 17 years ago. Former NBA player Luis Scola, who was on the 2004 gold medal team at the Athens Games, managed to post 16 points of his own in the loss, but no other teammate could score more than 13.

Team USA will be back in action on Friday in a rematch against Australia, hoping for some payback after losing to them this past Monday.
