NCAA Football: The Tide wins again, barely rolling over the Tigers at home

Tuscaloosa, Alabama - The Alabama Crimson Tide was locked into a big SEC rivalry game with the LSU Tigers on Saturday night with the Tide continuing to roll towards another potential national championship run.

The Tide beat the Tigers 20-14 for Alabama’s third-straight win, while LSU lost their fourth game out of the last five played this season.

Ever since their surprising loss to Texas A&M last month, third-ranked Alabama has had to win every game left on their schedule to even have a chance at earning a spot in the upcoming college football playoff.

While this win wasn’t high-scoring, the Tide still got the job done thanks to steady defense when it really counted, including big stops late in the game.

After the Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, Alabama kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for nearly the rest of the game while they put up three unanswered touchdowns in the second and third periods.

The Tigers managed to find the end zone one last time before the Tide tightened things up late for the win.

Alabama’s sophomore quarterback Bryce Young (20) put in a good night’s work to help the Tide hold off the Tigers.

With the Tide’s rushing attack nearly neutralized all game long, Young was able to step up and lead the offensive attack.

His efforts gave Alabama its first lead of the game in the second quarter, and they never looked back after that.

Young finished the game 24-for-37 passing, 302 yards, and two touchdowns.

While the Tide is currently ranked third in the AP poll, they sit a little higher at second place in the college football playoff rankings.

Georgia overtook the top spot from them, so unless the Bulldogs lose one of their last three games, Alabama likely won't do any better than where they are right now.

Next Saturday, the Crimson Tide will stay at home to play the New Mexico State Aggies, while the Tigers head back home to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
