Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to roll among college football’s best as they demolished their Big Ten conference rivals, the Purdue Boilermakers, on Saturday night.

The Buckeyes beat down the Boilermakers 59-31 for their eighth-straight win this season while snapping Purdue’s two-game winning streak in the process.

Fourth-ranked Ohio State has been in the running for one of the four upcoming college football playoff spots. They made a strong case for themselves after making an example of 19th-ranked Purdue.

With so many points between both teams, there was no room for a dominating defense here. Things were even tied up 7-7 at the halfway point of the first quarter, with both camps in great position.

But the Buckeyes took over after that with four touchdowns before the Boilermakers finally responded again.

Ohio State was already well on their way to winning with a 45-17 halftime lead, never looking back as the night progressed on.

The Buckeyes kept piling up points, but not without the Boilermakers adding a couple more scores of their own in the third quarter before the onslaught was finally over.

Freshman quarterback CJ Stroud (20) played a monster game for the Buckeyes.

While Purdue’s quarterback threw for more yards, Stroud – who led the NCAA in passer rating (87.9) coming into the game – passed for more touchdowns to take his team to the win.

Since the Buckeye’s offensive was so hot, Stroud’s passing game alone could’ve beaten Purdue.

He finished the night by completing 31 of 38 pass attempts for 361 yards and five touchdowns.

Ohio State has a very good chance to solidify a spot in the college football playoffs after winning big over Purdue.

Since they already have a hold on the fourth CFP spot, they might even take a step up in the national rankings because of their efforts on Saturday night.

Next Saturday, the Buckeyes stay at home to host the Michigan State Spartans, while the Boilermakers will be at home to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.
