MLB: Dodgers enjoy their home opener by showing off all the championship hardware!

Los Angeles, California - The Los Angeles Dodgers played their first home game of the season on Friday but celebrated first, handing out jewelry made only for champions as they honored their first World Series win since 1988.

The 2020 World Series MVP Corey Seager (26) and the defending champion Dodgers were back for their first game at home, taking on the Washington Nationals.

The "boys in blue" started things off by receiving their long-awaited World Series rings, earned after beating the Tampa Bay Rays in last year's Fall Classic.

The first half of the game was a pitcher's duel, with each team staying scoreless until a solo shot in the seventh inning by Justin Turner, put Los Angeles on the board. That was all the Dodgers needed as they came away with the 1-0 win. Walker Buehler got the victory by pitching six shutout innings, striking out four.

The Yankees came into Tropicana Field in Tampa but lost to the Rays 10-5.

In San Francisco, the Giants managed to outlast the Rockies 3-1.

The Angels went down to Florida (Toronto's still not available due to Covid-19) to play the Blue Jays, getting the 7-1 win.

Detroit went to Cleveland but couldn't get it done, losing 4-1.

Division rivals Philly met up with the Braves, who extended their winning streak to 3 games with an 8-1 win, behind Ronald Acuna's 4 hits.

And The Padres went deep into the heart of Texas where pitcher Joe Musgrove threw the first no-hitter in team history, blanking out the Rangers 3-0. Musgrove threw ten strikeouts, walked no one, and missed throwing a perfect game – an even rarer feat – by hitting Joey Gallo of the Rangers with a pitch. San Diego was the last team in MLB history to have a pitcher throw a no-hitter.

The A's went down to Houston, to face the Astros and got their second-straight win 6-2.

And the Reds were out in the Arizona desert against the D'Backs, needing extra innings to get their sixth straight win 6-5.

The Reds will try to stay hot with another one against the D'Backs, but the Yankees will try to bounce back against the Rays first, on Saturday.
