The Hurricanes quarterback coach Frank Ponce just racked up another star recruit.

Jaden Rashada, a top-50 prospect in the class of 2023, committed to the University of Miami on Sunday after using his final official visit to see the Hurricanes last week.

The four-star quarterback and No. 45-ranked overall player chose the Hurricanes over top-notch colleges like Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.

"Miami just felt like home when I went there the second time," Rashada said. "Miami has a California vibe, that's what set it off a bit."

The 6-foot-4 star athlete from Pittsburg High School in California is the No.7-ranked quarterback and No.5-ranked player in the current recruiting cycle. Rashada threw for 2,220 yards including 27 touchdowns, racked up 193 rushing yards, and scored once on the ground as a sophomore in 2021.

With his current ratings, Rashada is the second-highest ranked quarterback recruit in Hurricanes' history behind Kyle Wright – the No. 3 player in the class of 2003.

The Under Armour All-American joins four-star athlete Robby Washington as the only two blue-chip players of the Hurricane recruiting class thus far. Rashada's commitment brings Miami’s 2023 class up from No. 44 in the country to No. 33.
