The NFL will play on Black Friday for the first time ever in a huge win for Amazon
New York, New York - The NFL broadcast already dominates during Thanksgiving, but now, the league has announced it will expand its holiday weekend coverage with its first ever Black Friday game in partnership with Amazon.
Press pause on that Black Friday shopping – now, there's some more football to go with those turkey leftovers.
The inaugural Black Friday game is scheduled to take place next year on November 24, 2023, the day after the league's traditional Thanksgiving games.
It will be streamed exclusively via Amazon Prime Video, which will also become the new home of Thursday Night Football.
"Thanksgiving is synonymous with football and we're excited to give our fans another day of NFL action during this holiday weekend," Chief Operating Officer for NFL Media Hans Schroeder said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Amazon is uniquely positioned to partner with us for this game as Black Friday is one of the most important days of the year for their business," he added.
The teams set to take part in the historic game will be revealed next year during the 2023-24 season schedule announcement.
Prime Video will expand its football coverage to 16 games next season, as its first year as the exclusive provider of Thursday Night Football.
