The Buffalo Bills tease fans with sneak peek of new stadium
Buffalo, New York - The Buffalo Bills released the first official renderings of the future stadium on Thursday.
The arena is set to open in 2026 and will be across the road from the Bills' current stadium, Highmark Stadium, in Orchard Park.
Currently, Buffalo is working with architectural firm Populous and the consulting group, Legends, for the stadium's development.
Ground is expected to be broken in 2023.
Fans got a sneak peek of the new stadium via Buffalo's Twitter. The images show the planned exterior and interior parts of the new stadium, with stacked seating and a roof to protect fans from the elements, while also directing cheering towards the field.
The overhangs will reportedly cover 65% of the seats.
Outside, the stadium will include a plaza dubbed the "family circle" that features three large buffalo statues. This is meant to be a gathering spot year-round for the community. It was designed to highlight "the team's desire for a visual identity that reflects some of the historical architecture of Buffalo, while also delivering a modern appearance," the Bills wrote on their website.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the ACF East, the Buffalo Bills will play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at 8:20 PM EDT.
