Arlington, Texas - The Las Vegas Raiders earned a much-needed Thanksgiving Day win after going into Texas to beat the Dallas Cowboys.

The Raiders canned the Cowboys 36-33 in overtime to snap a three-game losing streak while setting Dallas up on a two-game skid of their own.

The first quarter featured both teams trading touchdowns as Vegas carried a 14-6 lead into the second, where they kept control of the momentum and held on to a four-point lead going into halftime.

The third quarter was more of the same from the Raiders as the Cowboys couldn’t quite catch Vegas, trailing them by eight going into the fourth.

Dallas stepped up in the last 15 minutes of the game to tie things up, forcing overtime.

But a costly penalty, one of many that hampered Dallas’ chances for success, set up the Raiders for a game-winning 29-yard field goal with only minutes to go in overtime.

Once again, it was a kicker that was the man of the hour in a must-win situation.

Fourth-year placekicker Daniel Carlson (26) was on top of his game for the Raiders on Thursday.

He was responsible for half of Vegas’ points and was flawless every time he was set up for a kick attempt, including the eventual game-winner in overtime.

Carlson was 5-for-5 in field goal kicking, including a 56-yarder to go along with a perfect 3-for-3 in extra points for a total of 18 points scored.

The Cowboys need to batten up the hatches before they find themselves potentially missing out on a playoff spot.

After Thursday, they still lead the NFC East by two games over their closest competition, but that doesn’t guarantee they’ll hold on to that spot.

They could easily slip out of place with only six games remaining in the regular season, with four of those games against the rest of the teams from their division who are all looking to take Dallas’ place.

Next Sunday, the Raiders (6-5) are back at home to take on the Washington Football Team (4-6), while the Cowboys (7-4) hit the road to play the Saints (5-6).
