NFL: The Pack shut out the Seahawks on Aaron Rodgers' return
Green Bay, Wisconsin - The Green Bay Packers came out on top against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, as both teams' number one quarterbacks made their returns to their respective teams.
The Packers shut out the Seahawks at home 17-0, while their starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers (37) returned to the team from his Covid-19 quarantine.
The Seahawks got back their franchise quarterback, Russell Wilson, from a throwing-hand injury that kept him out since last month.
Despite both key players coming back, the game was anything but full of offensive fireworks.
In fact, it wasn't pretty, as the game went into halftime with Green Bay leading only 3-0.
Things did get a little better in the second half, but of the three passes that were caught in the end zone during that time, two of them were interceptions thrown by Wilson and the other was a pick thrown by Rodgers.
Overall, Rodgers' return wasn't that big of a deal and the only thing he could hang his helmet on was throwing for more yards than Wilson.
The Packers ended up getting more points by way of their rushing attack, scoring twice to seal the win.
The player spotlight
Packers second-year running back A.J. Dillon was the big scorer for his team, taking almost all game but finally getting in enough of a groove to help lead his team to victory.
He quickly became the main man while Rodgers struggled and Green Bay’s top rusher, Aaron Jones, left the game in the second half with a knee injury.
Dillon wasn’t able to gain much on the ground in total but found the end zone when it mattered.
He carried the ball 21 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
The big picture
Apart from that wild season-opening blowout against the Saints, the only other loss the Packers have so far came last week, in a depressing 13-7 defeat to the Chiefs defeat while Rodgers was out with Covid-19.
With Green Bay back in the win column, they seem to have weathered the storm caused by their star man. The next step is getting him back to his best, in which case the Packers can be confident of adding some style to their substance again.
Next Sunday, the Packers (8-2) will travel to take on the Vikings (4-5), while the Seahawks (3-6) will be back at home to face the Cardinals (8-2).
