Green Bay, Wisconsin - In their home opener, the Green Bay Packers took away their fanbase’s worries by dominating the Detroit Lions in front of the Lambeau Field faithful on Monday night.

The Packers took care of the Lions, winning over the Lions 35-17 in the final game of Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season.

Green Bay came into this game looking to turn things around from their embarrassing Week 1 performance and avoid its first 0-2 start in 15 seasons.

It turns out reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated – especially when it comes to Aaron Rodgers (37), who had another monster game under center. He finished 22-for-27, a game-high 255 yards, and four touchdowns.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who’s still getting used to being a Lion after spending the last five seasons with the Rams, had himself a decent outing, despite the loss. He completed 26-of-36 pass attempts for 246 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

But the game wasn’t without a little suspense for the Packers fans, as the Lions seemed to be the team that was surprisingly in control during the first half.

Detroit scored first to open things up thanks to a five-yard touchdown pass from Goff to Quintez Cephus.

Green Bay answered back with the first of three touchdown passes from Rodgers to Packers running back Aaron Jones, to tie things up at 7-7.

Both sides traded touchdowns again, as Detroit closed out the first half with a 43-yard field goal by Lions kicker Austin Seibert to put them up 17-14 at the break.

The second half was all Packers starting with Robert Tonyan catching a 22-yard pass from Rodgers to put his team up 21-17, for Green Bay’s first lead of the game.

Jones and Rodgers connected twice more to put the game way out of reach from the Lions, who were clearly outmatched in this one.

Jones finished the game with 115 total yards, three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.

On Sunday, the Packers (1-1) head out west to take on the 49ers (2-0) while the Lions (0-2) head back home, looking for their first win of the season against the Ravens (1-1).
