NFL: The Rams roll over the Seahawks at home for their third win in a row
Los Angeles, California - The Los Angeles Rams continued their winning ways by closing out Week 15 of the NFL season with a home win over the division rival Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams doubled up the Seahawks 20-10 on Tuesday night for their third-straight victory and third winning streak of the regular season.
On the other hand, Tuesday night’s loss kept the Seahawks from their first three-game winning streak of the year.
The Seahawks always had little to no chance of making the playoffs, while the Rams are all but guaranteed to be in the postseason. Still, LA played like they had something to prove.
The first half featured a lot of stalled drives as both teams could only muster a field goal before heading into halftime tied at 3-3.
Seattle then took their only lead of the game with a touchdown that brought the score to 10-3.
But the Rams tied the game with a touchdown of their own as the action shifted to the fourth quarter.
Los Angeles ended up shutting the door on the Seahawks with 10 more unanswered points in the last quarter to walk away with the win.
The player spotlight
Keeping up the stellar play for LA is wide receiver Cooper Kupp (28), who added another spectacular game to this season's growing list.
In his fifth season with the Rams, Kupp is leading the NFL in receiving yards (1,625), touchdowns (14), and receptions (122), breaking former Rams great Issac Bruce's team record for catches in a career.
Adding to his amazing stats on Tuesday, he scored more points on his own than the Seahawks did in the whole game.
Kupp finished the game with nine catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
The big picture
While the Rams came away with a gutsy and impressive win, there's much to be said about Seattle’s loss.
This marks the first time in Russell Wilson’s 10-year career with the Seahawks that his team will finish a season with a losing record.
It’s been a progressive decline in Seattle over the last few years, which usually kicks off talks of a possible revamp, from players all the way up to the head coach position.
At this point, nothing official has been decided, but that just leaves more room for hand-wringing and anxious reflection for fans wondering what’s ahead for the Seahawks.
Next Sunday, the Rams (10-4) will be on the road to face the Vikings (7-7) while the Seahawks (5-9) will head back home to take on the Bears (4-10).
