This is TCU's secret weapon for the 2023 National Championship game
Los Angeles, California - As the TCU Horned Frogs are set to close out a remarkable season, head coach Sonny Dyke's players will be entering the National Championship game against Georgia on Monday with a secret weapon.
"Nobody gave us this chance before the season and look where we're at now," senior wide receiver Taye Barber told TAG24.
The Horned Frogs have been praised for achieving one of the greatest college football Cinderella stories of all time.
Following an undefeated regular season, TCU shocked the college football world when they took down the Michigan Wolverines in the CFP Fiesta Bowl Semifinal last Saturday and clinched their ticket to play for a national title.
As the first Big 12 team to play on the CFP championship stage, the Horned Frog's biggest weapon for success has been narrowed down to one simple thing: belief!
"You just gotta believe yourself and your teammate's week in and week out." Barber said about his team's guiding principles.
He added: "It's football at the end of the day, no matter who you play. You just gotta come out every Saturday and just want it more than the other team."
TCU quarterback Max Duggan believes the team is ready for battle
When TCU touched down in Los Angeles on Friday, Dykes revealed that the team has been working all year on their maturity on the field.
On Saturday, Davey O'Brien winner quarterback Max Duggan reiterated the team's readiness at Media Day ahead of the big showdown.
"The whole season hasn't been pretty. But being able to be in tight games and have to face some adversity and be able to come back from deficits ... When things get tight at the end of games, we're not gonna panic," Duggan said confidently about his team.
TCU undoubtedly earned their way to the championship game following a grueling season where the Fort Worth team hustled their way to the top.
The Horned Frogs survived each week since the season's first kickoff - winning seven straight games by an impressive 10 points.
"I think when you get a couple of [nail-biting] games like that like we had this year and be successful and win those games, it puts confidence in us that we know we can do it!" Duggan said.
The National Championship game featuring the Horned Frogs and the Georgia Bulldogs is set for January 9 at 7:30 PM EST at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
