Peach Bowl: Buckeyes' Miyan Williams' status revealed ahead of Georgia showdown
Atlanta, Georgia - If Ohio State wants to win the College Football Playoff (CFP)'s Peach Bowl against Georgia, they will need one special ingredient on the field: Miyan Williams. But after being sidelined due to injury, will he play?
The questions concerning Williams' health ahead of the semifinal bowl game this Saturday has been put to rest.
The leading rusher, who missed practice and a media appearance this week, returned to the field on Thursday and is now expected to play against Georgia in the Peach Bowl showdown.
"He's got a stomach bug, and we expect him at practice today," coach Ryan Day told the media on Thursday. "We just gotta take it as we go."
Videos on Twitter showed him running through drills and back in action.
Day also reported that the Buckeyes will expect to have their full team available and ready to play against Georgia.
Throughout the season, Williams has struggled as part of the Buckeyes' group of running backs that have been plagued with injuries.
The freshman tailback was not present at the Buckeyes' media day Thursday morning, either. On Tuesday, he was replaced at a press conference by teammate Chip Trayanum.
While not having Williams at practice earlier this week wasn't ideal, Coach Day said his team "responded well to [Williams' absence] and some guys have stepped up."
Those players include backup running backs Trayanum and Dallan Hayden. Both athletes are underrated Buckeye stars that can replace Williams on the field in the case he is sidelined again during the bowl game.
Ohio State will take on the Georgia in the CFP semifinal, the Peach Bowl, on December 31 at 8 PM EST, airing on ESPN.
