Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson returns for Terps showdown, but who's still out?
Columbus, Ohio - Buckeye star running back TreVeyon Henderson will travel to Maryland on Saturday for Ohio State's big game against the Terps, despite nursing a nagging foot injury that kept him out of last week's game against Indiana and the previous matchup against Northwestern.
Henderson's potential return to the field brings back some optimism for fans concerning the Buckeyes depleted running back room.
Just last week, tailback Miyan Williams suffered a lower leg injury and was carted off the field in the second quarter of last week’s win over the Hoosiers.
Sidelined this week, redshirt sophomore Williams will rehab for a return in the hugely anticipated showdown against No. 3 Michigan next week.
Until then, Henderson will lead the tailback room for the Buckeyes and will serve as the espresso shot for Ohio State's rushing action.
The sophomore's comeback to the field will be a big test for the Buckeyes offense that hasn't played with their leading rusher since Ohio State's win at Penn State on October 29.
Dominating in the fourth quarter, it was Henderson's two touchdowns scores that fueled the Buckeyes comeback to defeat the Nittany Lions and remain unbeaten ahead of the first College Football Playoff selection.
Henderson is Ohio State's most explosive running back, and has scored six touchdowns so far in the season for an average of 5.8 yards per carry.
His return shortens the list of Ohio State players unavailable for Saturday’s game against the Maryland Terrapins to these nine:
- Miyan Williams, RB
- Evan Pryor, RB
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR
- TC Caffey, RB
- Lloyd McFarquhar, CB
- Mitchell Melton, DE
- Jalen Pace, LB
- Bradley Robinson, LS
- Kourt Williams, S
Ohio State's kickoff at Maryland's home Capitol One Field stadium is set for 3:30 PM EST.
