Mike Norvell cashes in on Florida State football with contract extension
Tallahassee, Florida - After a historic season with Florida State football that ended with a bowl game win against the Oklahoma Sooners, head coach Mike Norvell locked in a massive multi-million dollar contract extension with the Seminoles.
In 2019, Norvell initially signed a six-year, $4.42 million annual contract before he inked an extension through 2026 following the 2021 season.
Now, under his new coaching agreement, Norvell will earn an average of $8.05 million per year through the 2029 college football season.
"I’m grateful for the trust our administration continues to place in me to lead the Florida State football program," Norvell said following his extension announcement.
He added: "I’m also thankful for the people who brought me and my family here three years ago, along with the players and staff whose commitment has helped us build this foundation. The future is bright here in Tallahassee."

"Coach Norvell has re-established a culture that the entire Seminole Family can appreciate," Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said in a statement.
He added: "We are proud of the way Coach Norvell, his staff, and his team represent Florida State University on and off the field. Under Coach Norvell’s leadership we have experienced the highest grade-point average in program history multiple times, an unprecedented impact in our community and drastic improvement on the football field through him establishing a foundation of unwavering standards in all areas. I’m happy that we are going to continue climbing with Coach Norvell for years to come."
Under Norvell, the Seminoles concluded their 10-3 season with their highest-ranked finish since 2016 at No. 11.
Florida State will enter the 2023 season on a six-game winning streak, the fifth-longest active streak in the nation, and the team currently holds the record for the most average viewership per game in the ACC.
On April 15, the Seminoles will return to Doak Campbell Stadium for their annual Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase. Florida State will open their 2023 season on Labor Day with a game against LSU.
