Former LSU football pledge Darron Reed dramatically flips to the Auburn Tigers
Auburn, Alabama - LSU football's defensive line can still have a strong recruiting class for 2023, but losing out on star athlete Darron Reed to Auburn was a huge hit for for the purple and gold Tigers.
Over the summer, star lineman Reed was all in for the LSU Tigers and even committed to the program.
While it's unclear what changed the Georgia native's mind, on Friday, Reed switched out his LSU Tiger stripes for those of the Auburn Tigers.
After several visits to Auburn's football program – which took place after he made a commitment to LSU – Reed took to Twitter to announce his flipped decision.
"1000% committed," Reed tweeted along with a photo of him rocking an Auburn uniform. "All recruiting is shut down."
Standing at a massive 6-foot-4, the future Auburn lineman posted an impressive senior season, totaling 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and eight sacks.
Also on the field, Reed has accumulated 10 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and two pass deflections this year.
As the Tigers continue to build their defensive squad for its 2023 recruiting class, Reed's pledge makes him the 12th verbal recruit and third defensive lineman to commit to the program.
On Saturday, Reed will cheer on his Auburn Tigers as they face Alabama in the Iron Bowl – one of the biggest in-state rivalries in all college football.
