College football: Georgia lands a big catch and LSU retains big time quarterback
Athens, Georgia - Mississippi State football's leading receiver is headed to Georgia!
Wide receiver Rara Thomas is officially trading his Mississippi State Bulldog ways to be a different kind of breed in the SEC.
The sophomore revealed on Thursday that he will transfer to Georgia and play for the Bulldogs next season.
His announcement comes just a week after former Mississippi State coach Mike Leach passed away due to heart complications.
Former Bulldog defensive coordinator Zach Arnett will succeed Leach as the permanent Mississippi State head football coach.
Thomas led Mississippi State this past season in the receiving room with 44 catches for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.
He will add depth to Georgia's receiver unit that has lacked big playmakers outside of wideout Ladd McConkey this year.
While the Georgia Bulldogs celebrate another major addition to their roster after a successful day one in CFB's early signing period on Wednesday, fellow SEC competitor LSU has something big to celebrate in Baton Rouge of their own.
LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels will return for a final season of college football
LSU's starting quarterback Jayden Daniels has announced he will return next year!
"This has been an amazing ride and honestly, I am not ready to get off just yet," Daniels wrote in a post on Twitter. "That is why it is important that I announce I am returning for the 2023 season to fulfill the goal of an LSU Tiger and bring our fans another championship."
Daniels' outstanding showing throughout the 2022 season included 2,774 passing yards for 16 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also led the Tigers in carries (180), rushing yards (818), and rushing touchdowns (11).
Daniels led LSU to secure the SEC West title under first-year coach Brian Kelly. After losing to Georgia in the SEC championship game, the Tigers are set to face Big Ten runner-up Purdue on January 2 in the Citrus Bowl.
