College football: Georgia and TCU set the stage for 2023 National Championship game
Inglewood, California - The national stage is set! Who will be crowned the 2023 college football national champions?
The College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship matchup is set, with No. 1 seed Georgia facing off against No. 3 seed TCU on January 9 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The Bulldogs will be playing to win their second straight National Championship title after clawing back to knock off Ohio State in the Peach Bowl in a 42-41 victory on Saturday night.
If Georgia can successfully defend its title, they will be the first team to accomplish this feat since Alabama in 2011-12.
Fiesta Bowl champions TCU shocked Michigan and the college football world in its 51-45 game finish, becoming the first Big 12 team to earn a spot in the national title game since the start of the CFP era in 2014.
The Horned Frogs aren’t considered a traditional power program like past playoff contenders and national champions Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State.
Winning only two national titles ever in 1935 and 1938, TCU's inclusion in the national championship game represents one of the biggest developments in modern college football history.
TCU enters the National Championship game as the first team in the CFP era to not have a Blue Chip Ratio – the percentage of a team made up of or four-or five-star prospects – above 50%.
