College football: Early signing day madness concludes as SEC comes out on top
New York, New York - The first wave of the college football early signing period is officially a wrap, and as expected, the Alabama Crimson Tide will enter next season with the best incoming 2023 recruiting class!
The first day of the early signing period brought absolute recruiting madness!
To kick things off, the Crimson Tide landed two five-star defenders from the same high school, the Oregon Ducks made a massive leap up the recruiting rankings, and Colorado Boulder jumped into the top 50 under the new leadership of coach Deion Sanders.
On Day 2, five-star Peyton Bowen kept the recruitment chaos going when he shocked the college football world by flipping his commitment for a second time in a 24-hour period.
On Wednesday, Bowen switched his pledge from Notre Dame to Oregon. On Thursday, he switched from Oregon to Oklahoma!
While he didn't flip his commitment again on the final day of the early signing period, what made arguably the biggest headline in the early signing period's finale was the SEC's dominance on the recruiting board this year.
Alabama and the reigning national champions Georgia will conclude the year with two of the best recruiting classes going into the 2023 season!
The SEC and Big 12 football will enter next season with the best freshman recruits
With the most five-star players of any college football team, it's hard not to imagine another national championship coming to the Crimson Tide at the end of the 2023 season.
From flipping recruits like Kayden Proctor to securing prospects like Caleb Downs who pledged prior to the start of this season, Alabama's 2023 class will go down in history as one of the best in college football.
Coming in second behind Alabama's class is none other than SEC champions Georgia.
The Bulldogs might not have as many five-star commits as the Crimson Tide, but they too have recruited a rock star class!
Georgia's 2023 recruiting class is headlined by five-star edge Damon Wilson and five-star cornerback AJ Harris. The young cornerback has been practicing with the Bulldogs ahead of their College Football Playoff appearance in the Peach Bowl matchup against Ohio State.
Rounding out the top 3 best recruitment classes are the Texas Longhorns
With big time quarterback Arch Manning – the nephew of NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning – officially locked into the Longhorns' football program, it's safe to say that everything truly is bigger in Texas.
Manning was the biggest and arguably most sought out passer in the nation of the 2023 class who is projected to make some noise in the Big 12 as a freshman next year!
