College football: Week 5 has come epic showdowns in store
New York, New York - Week 5 of the college football season will see more teams around the country starting their conference schedule, which means some big matchups between ranked teams are coming up!
NC State, coming it 10th in the AP Top 25, will host the biggest game of the weekend against the No. 4 Clemson Tigers.
In a battle of undefeated SEC teams, the second-best team in the nation, Alabama, takes on top-20 ranked Arkansas in Fayetteville, and No. 13 Ole Miss will welcome the No. 7 Kentucky Wildcats.
A rematch of the Big 12 championship game last December will be another highlight of the week between the Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma State.
With the Cowboys coming off of a bye weekend, Baylor will look to repeat their luck from the championship game last year and give Oklahoma State its first loss of the season.
With some teams starting their weekend of action early thanks to Hurricane Ian, here's what you need to know about the biggest matchup of Week 5.
Matchup of the Week: NC State looks to knock Clemson out
The Tigers are coming off of a mentally taxing win that featured a double overtime against Wake Forest. If NC State can take an early lead in Saturday night's game, it has a real chance at pulling off the biggest upset of the season.
While NC State's quarterback Devin Leary pulled off the win over the Tigers last year with a stellar 238 passing yards and four touchdowns, this season, he has yet to face a team of this caliber.
Clemson has an NFL defensive front and with their offense coming together, Tigers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei may be too much for the Wolfpack to stop.
Each week, Uiagalelei has been getting better on the field and simply balling out. In last week's showing against Wake Forest, when Clemson needed him most, the 21-year-old passer came through with a game winning touchdown pass.
This will definitely be the biggest test for NC State so far.
Clemson and NC State big matchup is set for Saturday at 7:30 PM EDT.
