What's happening with the Brooklyn Nets?

New York, New York - The circus has officially begun in the Barclays Center as the Nets have lost the last of their three core players with no back-up plan in sight.

Within a year, the Brooklyn Nets have lost their historic big three after trading James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant.

Following a rough year, it came to no surprise that Kyrie Irving and the Nets agreed to go their separate ways.

But for the Nets to trade each member of their historic "big three" and arguably the top players in the league has left many questioning why.

Following Kevin Durant's trade to the Phoenix Suns just three days after Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and months after James Harden's departure to Philadelphia, Brooklyn's roster is in worse shape than it's been in years!

The franchise has no real offensive stars that can score big and lead the Nets victoriously in Irving, Harden, and Durant's absence.

Now, Brooklyn will turn to Ben Simmons, the Nets' replacement for Harden, to become the new face of the franchise and team leader.

Unfortunately, Simmons has seen more time on the bench than expected, averaging career lows in points (7.2), rebounds (6.4), assists (6.4), and minutes played (27.3).

How can Brooklyn move forward from this roster atrocity?

Perhaps an upper management "trade" needs to happen for this struggling Brooklyn team that just can't seem to win.

It's apparent that current general manager Sean Marks has no clear direction for the Brooklyn Nets, leading the franchise to a historic NBA downfall. Marks was named the team's GM in 2016 and has seemingly spent millions of the franchise's dollars with nothing to show for it.

Moving forward, owner Joe Tsai may need to make some big changes in the top office to revamp this team and avoid another major roster mishap.

For the first time in four seasons, the Brooklyn Nets will take the court without Irving, Harden, and Durant on Thursday for a game against the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 PM EST.
