NBA: Westbrook owns the night as the Wizards win a thriller in Indy
Indianapolis, Indiana - The Washington Wizards got over the line in overtime with a one-point win over the Pacers on Saturday night.
Russell Westbrook (32) was the hero and his final points in overtime lead the Wizards to their 133-132 win over the Pacers.
Westbrook has been somewhat of a machine this season, taking control of games and putting up historic numbers. In Saturday's win, he scored his 35th triple-double, the 181st in his career, tying NBA legend Oscar Robertson's all-time mark. Westbrook is also averaging a triple-double over the entire regular season for the fourth time in his 12-year career.
The game itself was close throughout the first half, with Washington up only one point at halftime. The Pacers adjusted in the third quarter to lead going into the fourth where the Wizards answered back with a strong effort to send the game into overtime. Westbrook stepped up and ultimately won the game for the Wizards at the foul line with two free throws, and ended up blocking the last shot effort by the Pacers to seal the win.
On any other day, Bradley Beal dropping 50 points for the Wizards would have been the main story, but he was overshadowed by Westbrook's performance. Rui Hachimura contributed with 13 points and six rebounds in the win.
Domantas Sabonis scored another triple-double himself, for the Pacers and Caris LeVert led with 35 points, with 14 rebounds and eight assists. Edmond Sumner scored 13 points, while Oshae Brissett scored 12.
On Monday night, the Wizards are in Atlanta to try and handle the Hawks, while the Pacers are on the road against the Cavaliers.
