NBA: The Nets stay hot on the road and easily clip the Pelicans' wings

New Orleans, Louisiana - The Brooklyn Nets are firmly back to winning ways, this time cruising into the Big Easy and making easy work of the New Orleans Pelicans on the road.

The Nets came away with an impressive road win over the Pelicans 120-112 to make it two in a row, only their second streak of the season.

Brooklyn has been playing like one of the NBA’s better teams again, while New Orleans is still one of two one-win teams so far this season.

Despite the Pelicans currently being bottom-feeders, they did put up a decent fight against one of the squads projected to contend for a league championship.

They out-rebounded the Nets 43-34 and gained a considerable advantage in the paint, scoring 50 points down low, to Brooklyn’s 36 total.

The Pelicans managed to progress through the game well enough and turned a 21-point deficit into only one point, but then ultimately losing by eight points at the final buzzer.

Overall, the game belonged to the Nets, as they ended each quarter holding the lead and going on one last run during the game’s final minutes to seal the win.

Nets guard James Harden (32) had himself a monster game, taking his turn in the spotlight he’s been sharing with teammate Kevin Durant.

Always known as one of the league’s best scorers, he was dangerous when shooting a three, racking up 18 points alone from long-distance.

Outscoring everyone on the court by double-digit figures, he blew his 19.8 points per game average right out of the water.

The big picture

The Nets are currently second in the Eastern Conference, but tops in the Atlantic Division.

They’re now well over any roster woes and Kyrie Irving's continued absence seems to matter less with every passing game.

As long as they keep up the high level of play, they’ll easily coast through the rest of this month, maintaining the reputation of a title contender.

On Sunday, the Nets are in Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder while the Pelicans look for their second win of the season, hosting the Grizzlies on Saturday.
