Auburn basketball roars big with four-star recruit Labaron Philon
Auburn, Alabama - Just ahead of their big conference showdown against Tennessee on Saturday, Auburn basketball received some huge news with arguably their best commitment to the program yet!
Four-star point guard Labaron Philon announced on his social media on Friday and at a press conference at his high school that he is staying home!
The 6-foot-4 Alabama native, who plays with some major swagger on the court, chose the Tigers over big schools Kansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and in-state rival Alabama.
"I chose Auburn because I felt it was the best school to put me in a great situation, even outside of basketball," the high school junior told On3. "I believe coach Bruce Pearl can get me to the next level with the greatness of coaching he has."
Not just your average guard, Philon can work the court as a combo guard to assist, get to the rim, and make scores!
Different from other guards under Coach Pearl, the four-star athlete's height makes him stand out from soon-to-be Tigers teammates Jared Harper, Sharife Cooper, and Wendell Green Jr.
On the hardwood, Philon will easily tower over smaller guards on the college level and use his stature to his advantage, to eventually cement his dominance in SEC hoops.
Philon's commitment makes him the third pledge in Auburn's 2024 class, joining center Peyton Marshall and guard Tahaad Pettiford, who committed on Wednesday.
