The Boss' daughter is going for gold! Jessica Springsteen to compete in Olympic Games
Lexington, Kentucky – "The Boss" sang about being "born in the USA" – now, his daughter will represent them!
Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of rock star Bruce Springsteen, will take part in the upcoming Olympic Games for the first time as a show jumper, in what will hopefully be her Glory Days.
The 29-year-old has been nominated as one of four riders for the US Jumping Olympic team for Tokyo, the US Equestrian Federation said on Monday.
"Been dreaming of this since I can remember! Endless gratitude for my team, friends and family for helping me make this a reality," Springsteen said on her Instagram on Tuesday. "We are Tokyo bound!!"
Jessica started taking riding lessons at the age of five and as "a lifelong equestrian" has "risen through the competitive international ranks to become one of the top jumping athletes for the US," the federation said.
In Tokyo, she will compete with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, a 12-year-old Belgian sport horse.
"There’s no horse in the world I’d rather be on this journey with, thank you Don! You’re my horse of a lifetime," the athlete said.
In addition to Jessica, Laura Kraut with Baloutinue, Kent Farrington with Gazelle, and McLain Ward with Contagious are part of the US show jumping team.
Jessica is the daughter of Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa, fellow member of the E Street Band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. They met in the early 80s and married in 1991 after touring together.
The rockers are also parents to Jessica's two brothers, Evan James and Samuel Ryan.
With a name like "Springsteen," it seems perhaps Jessica wasn't "born to run," but to jump instead!
