The momentum continues for Texas on its blazing hot recruiting trail as it snaps up another top-ranked recruit.

On Sunday, four-star defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell became the latest to commit to the Longhorns, picking them over Miami, Texas A&M, and the powerhouse Georgia.

The No. 4 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 45 defensive tackle nationally in the 2023 recruiting cycle, Mitchell is a huge pull for defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns’ defensive front, who will look for Mitchell to make an immediate impact on the field when he arrives on campus.

In three seasons at Bergen Catholic, Mitchell recorded 77 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and six sacks.

His verbal pledge vaults the Longhorns into the No. 3 position in the overall rank, putting them less than 10 points away from second-placed Ohio State and less than 15 points away from the table-topping Notre Dame, who just added another four-star recruit to its own collection.

The Longhorns still lead the nation in five-star commitments with three – the eye-popping trio of Arch Manning, Derek Williams, and Johntay Cook.
