Notre Dame snaps up four star wide receiver Rico Flores from under Georgia's nose
Folsom, California - The commitment blitz continued for Notre Dame, as four-star wide receiver Rico Flores gave his verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish during an Instagram live.
Notre Dame received added another feather in its cap on Sunday when California Folsom High School wide receiver Rico Flores opted for the Irish over the Ohio State Buckeyes and reigning national champions, the Georgia Bulldogs.
One of the more productive players in the 2023 class, Flores brings a healthy resume that rivals some of the best in the nation.
His commitment moves Notre Dame back into the No. 1 spot over Ohio State in the team recruiting rankings.
"You're gonna get a dominant receiver in all aspects," Flores said in response to what fans can expect from him on the field. "Just dominating the field as a whole."
As a junior, he caught 81 passes for 1,157 yards (14.3 yards per carry) and 11 touchdowns. Overall, Flores has 129 career catches for 2,141 yards and 24 receiving touchdowns during his high school career thus far.
The decision to make the fighting Irish his home was a natural one as the 17-year-old saw it as "the perfect fit" for life both on and off the field.
"I feel like it's not a four-year plan, its a forever plan," he said.
Flores currently sits in the 2023 class as the No. 12 overall prospect in the competitive state of California, a state that Notre Dame has had some success with in the past.
