NBA: Luka Dončić stays home from Dallas Mavericks' road trip with injury
Dallas, Texas - The Dallas Mavericks will be without franchise centerpiece Luka Dončić for their five-game road trip due to a heel injury.
The athlete damaged his right heel when he fell during a 111-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.
The four-time NBA All-Star was unable to return after leaving the court in the third quarter, and he did not make the journey west with his teammates on Friday.
Dončić will miss an encounter with the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and will also be absent for a game against the Utah Jazz and a meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers next week.
He will also sit out back-to-back showdowns with the Sacramento Kings along with Davis Bertans.
Dallas are 0-6 without Dončić this season, although he played only four minutes of a win over the Phoenix Suns due to a sprained left ankle on January 26.
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said of Dončić's injury: "We'll see how that turns out, then we'll be able to give an update. No participation, nor will those two go on the trip.
"As we get the MRI [results], I think we'll be able to give an update on their status."
Dallas are seeded fourth in the Western Conference standings.
