Kevin Durant is taking a leap into the cannabis world, but not in the way you might think.

The NBA star's investment firm, Thirty Five Ventures, together with its sports business media network, Boardroom, have partnered with Weedmaps.

The e-Commerce company enables users to locate different dispensaries, strains, deals, and delivery options in states where marijuana is legal.

According to a press release, the purpose of this multiyear partnership is to destigmatize the cannabis industry, especially its use by athletes.

"This strategic partnership will aim to further deconstruct the negative stereotypes associated with cannabis while elevating the conversation around the plant’s potential for athlete wellness and recovery," the release stated.

A part of the partnership includes episodes aired by Boardroom's own Out of Office podcast, with the latest featuring none other than Durant and his sports business partner and Thirty Five Ventures co-founder, Rich Kleiman.

Speaking on the new partnership in the press release, Durant said, "Now more than ever, there is so much opportunity for growth in the cannabis industry as well as the removal of any remaining stigmas around its use."

Additionally, Weedmaps will become the official sponsor of the sports business media company, including its podcast.

"As the technology leader in the industry, Weedmaps has consistently been at the forefront of change over the last decade. In partnering with Boardroom and Thirty Five Ventures, they’ve shown an even bigger commitment to innovation," Durant said.
