Anthony Joshua to take on Tyson Fury in front of up to 20,000 fans for title of undisputed champion
Los Angeles, California - The undisputed heavyweight world championship fight between the British boxing champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.
Fury's promoter Bob Arum confirmed this in a statement for Boxing Scene on Tuesday.
The fight that will determine the undisputed world champion is set to take place in front of up to 20,000 fans in an indoor arena in Jeddah.
The available dates are July 24, July 31, or August 7, meaning that the fight will definitely take place during the Tokyo Olympics – if that still goes ahead.
If it does, that could be a problem for Joshua, who holds the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles. The 31-year-old is trained by Rob McCracken, who is supposed to lead Team Great Britain's boxing contingent in Japan.
Joshua last defended his belts last year on December 22 in London with a knockout victory over Bulgarian Kubrat Pulew (39). He previously took on Andy Ruiz Jr (31) in Saudi Arabia in December 2019.
Tyson Fury, who will turn 33 in August, holds the WBC title after defeating Deontay Wilder (35) by TKO on February 22, 2020, his last fight to date.
Fury is still undefeated in 31 professional fights.
Initially, two fights were arranged.
The rematch is expected to be held in November or December.
