New York Climate Week: What to check out on Thursday

New York, New York - It's not all doom and gloom about the climate crisis at the NYC Climate Week. Chicken, beef, and real solutions are on the menu today.

If you need a snack, stop by the World Animal Protection’s Plant-Based Food Truck from 11 AM to 3 PM EST. The hybrid solar food truck is a place to chow down on some plant-based chicken while learning about the impact of factory produced meat on the environment.

You can keep chewing on the topic of food with the virtual session that asks Can Beef be Sustainable? The event starts at 12 PM and provides an hour of expert opinion – and potentially vested interests, given that it's funded by Beef Farmers and Ranchers – on how cows are supposedly good for the environment.

Climate change will be the reason millions of people migrate in the next decades. The virtual discussion Just Movement: Creating Equitable Pathways for Migration in the Wake of Climate Disaster looks at how climate refugees can receive support, either locally or as they are forced to cross borders. This event starts at 4 PM EST.

The Myth of Carbon Offsets takes a look at the financial and technological problems with focusing on carbon offsets to help meet the Paris Agreement's emissions goals. Kicking off at 1 PM EST, the discussion will also explain what alternatives there are to the problematic strategy of carbon offsets.

These are just the tip of the event iceberg, and you can check out the event page of the NYC Climate Week for more.
