New York City Climate Week: The weekend events to get you started
New York, New York - New York City's Climate Week is almost here, and already has some great tasters set up for locals to check out.
Climate Week NYC is a lineup of climate events focused on the week of September 20 to 26. It highlights climate commitments made by businesses, governments, and organizations.
This year, the focus is on "how to do more, fast."
Everything kicks off on Saturday with Unheard-of Ensemble and The Gowanus Dredgers, who are hosting "Fire Ecologies" on the Gowanus Canal. Yes, it's literally going to be on the canal, but if you don't have a ticket, you are still welcome to watch from the banks.
It will be a multimedia experience of different regions of the US through the lens of climate change.
Fire Ecologies starts at 7:30 PM on September 18 on the Gowanus Canal, near the Smith-9th Streets G/F station. If you register for the event, you will get a notification about the exact location.
Sunday's climate event is a literal walk in the park with Dispatch to the Future.
The event takes you on a 75-minute theatrical journey through green nooks in Central Park. Starting every half hour between 12 and 4 PM EST, each stop features a short play and the experience is family-friendly.
The jaunt in the park is guided, interactive, and built to give you some joy in the face of climate change.
Climate Group holds Climate Week NYC and makes events such as Fire Ecologies and Dispatch to the Future possible. The organization partners with the City of New York and the upcoming COP26 climate summit to give you an "opportunity to come together to accelerate climate action and assess progress ahead of COP26."
The weekend events are a unique taste of culture, arts, and politics stacked to give you an informative experience on climate change.
