Melania Trump is ready to go home
Washington, D.C. - While President Donald Trump is determined to stay in the White House no matter what, the first lady apparently has different plans. Melania Trump only wants one thing: to go home.
According to CNN, the former model has long since come to terms with reality – unlike her husband – and is already busy packing her bags.
Inside sources say the couple will live on the family estate of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
There, an interior designer is already giving the property a fresh look.
Meanwhile, Melania (50) is carefully sorting art and furniture belonging to the couple, as she wants to take some of the items with her to Florida. The rest will be sent to the Trumps' apartment in New York.
The reason: Donald (74) and Melania are "downgrading" from around 55,000 square feet to "only" around 3,000, so it's good to clear out old junk beforehand.
Melania, who was born in Slovenia, is looking forward to the peace and serenity of Mar-a-lago and has plans for the future: She is reportedly going to follow in the footsteps of former first ladies and publish a book. Rather than a memoir, Melania plans to write an illustrated coffee table book about the White House.
Thorough cleaning in the White House
In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the White House will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after the Trumps move out – and before the residence is handed over to Joe Biden (77) and his wife Jill (69), a White House representative confirmed on Friday on CNN.
The carpets are also to receive a deep cleaning – if they are not even completely disposed of, which is also a possibility. The concrete planning lies with the General Services Administration.
The immense effort is necessary because there have been several outbreaks of coronavirus in the White House. Donald Trump, his wife, and several confidants and employees fell ill with Covid-19 or tested positive.
The transfer of power will take place on January 20, 2021.
