Marshalltown, Iowa - Presidential hopeful Tim Scott told a voter he believes front-runner Donald Trump can't win in 2024, as his own campaign struggles to maintain relevancy.

According to NBC News, Scott shared his critique of the former president during an Iowa event on Monday night when a voter asked why she should no longer support Trump.

"I don’t think he can win," Scott responded. "You have to be able to win in Georgia. I don't think he can win in Georgia. I think you'll have to be able to win in Pennsylvania."

The former South Carolina senator explained that Trump is to blame for Republicans losing their majority in the Senate in 2021, as he said the former president spent so much time sowing doubt in US elections that conservatives did not show up to vote, resulting in Democrats winning two seats in Georgia.

"Everybody remembers Jan. 6, 2021. But what we forget sometimes is Jan. 5," Scott added. "We had two Republican seats on the ballot in Georgia, and the Party told northern Georgians to stay home."

Scott's critique comes at a time when his own campaign is struggling to stay afloat, with him polling no more than 2% in most national GOP primary polls. While Scott performed in the two previous GOP debates, he has yet to qualify for next month's third event.

In response to Scott's remarks, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said, "We don’t respond to people polling at 1%."
