Marjorie Taylor Greene compares Biden administration to Nazis again
Washington DC – Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene sparked controversy once again in a Tuesday tweet comparing the Biden administration's coronavirus vaccination push to Nazi-era Germany.
"Biden pushing a vaccine that is NOT FDA approved shows covid is a political tool used to control people," Greene tweeted. "People have a choice, they don’t need your medical brown shirts showing up at their door ordering vaccinations. You can't force people to be part of the human experiment."
According to The Hill, Greene's comments came in response to earlier remarks by Biden, in which he said health officials should be prepared "to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oftentimes door to door, literally knocking on doors" to encourage immunizations.
With the term "brown shirts," the controversial congresswoman was referencing Nazi storm troopers known for their violent intimidation tactics.
It's not the first time the Georgia representative has come under fire for insensitive references to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
She previously said mask requirements in the US House and vaccination logos for supermarket employee name tags were akin to gold stars used to identify Jewish people during the Nazi era. Greene later apologized for the comparisons, saying she had visited the Holocaust Museum that afternoon, but apparently the lessons she took from that tour didn't last.
"We don’t take any of our health and medical advice from Marjorie Taylor Greene, so I can assure everyone of that," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during an MSNBC interview after Greene's latest comments, saying that the Biden administration's goal remains "protecting people and saving lives."
"It’s up to every individual to decide whether they’re going to get vaccinated," Psaki added.
